Can We Ride from Kathmandu to Lhasa to Everest Base Camp?

Yes, you can! The Kathmandu to Lhasa motorcycle tour is a classic journey, now offered on a new route to Tibet by motorbike. This ride to Everest Base Camp not only presents stunning mountain vistas and high-altitude passes but also immerses you in the vibrant culture of Tibet. As you ride through remote villages and bustling cities, you will encounter some of the world’s highest motorable trails, including the short but scenic route to Mount Kailash from Nepal.

Ride with Confidence on Royal Enfield Motorcycles

Our trusted partner for this tour is the Royal Enfield 500cc / Himalayan 411cc, a bike renowned for its reliability and performance across any terrain. Whether you’re navigating the rugged roads of Nepal, Tibet, China, India, or Bhutan, this motorcycle is your steadfast companion. The journey begins at the new Kyirong border, leading you through Shakya, Gyantse, and Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, before reaching Lhatse and finally Rongbuk, the site of the Everest Base Camp in Tibet, China.

Why Join This Adventure?

This motorcycle tour is not just about riding; it’s about experiencing the dramatic landscapes, ancient monasteries, and the rich culture of Tibet. The highlight is the breathtaking ride to the Potala Palace and the ultimate destination—Everest Base Camp. As you conclude your journey by returning to Kathmandu, you’ll carry with you the stories of a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

Best Time to Visit:

The best time to embark on the Everest Himalayan Motorcycle Adventure is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to November) months. These seasons offer the most favorable weather conditions, with clear skies, moderate temperatures, and fewer chances of rain or snow. The summer months (July and August) may bring monsoon rains to Nepal, and the winter months (December to February) can be too cold for high-altitude riding, making spring and autumn the ideal times for this journey.

Difficulty Level:

Moderate to Challenging
This adventure is suitable for experienced riders who are comfortable with long-distance travel and riding on rough, high-altitude roads. The terrain includes a mix of paved and off-road routes, with significant elevation changes and some difficult mountain passes. Riders must be prepared for altitudes reaching over 5,000 meters (16,400 feet), which can cause altitude sickness. Physical fitness and acclimatization are essential for this tour. The journey includes both smooth highways and rugged, unpaved tracks that will test your riding skills and endurance.
