02
Ride to Nuwakot - Optional: ride toward Dhunche & return

A twisting climb takes us over Shivapuri Mountain before descending down to the Trishuli River Valley. From the town of Trishuli, we will have the option of riding further up the valley toward Dhunche and the Tibet border before returning to lovely hill-top lodging in Nuwakot. It’s an incredible ride with views of Langtang, Ganesh Himal, and Tibet on clear days. In several places, the road has been swept away by perennial landslides, and we cross on rocky and muddy patches. Enjoy drinks in the garden at this renovated farmhouse lodge while a garden-fresh dinner is being prepared. The only lodge on the mountain, we’ll be treated to serenity and great sunset views.

After breakfast, we’ll follow the Trishuli River as far as Mugling, before turning off toward Gorkha. Home of the legendary Gurkha soldiers, Gorkha also claims the title of the home to Prithvi Narayan Shah, the king who united Nepal. A beautiful hill-top lodge awaits our arrival in Gorkha. Follow a local staff on a walking tour of the small village before dinner or choose to ride into Gorkha proper to explore the old palace compound. Then polish off the day with a meal prepared by the ever-friendly, French-trained chef, and drinks on the terrace.
